The Flash says goodbye after a nine-season run
After running for nine seasons, the CW’s version of The Flash has come to an end. The catalyst for this storyline would have been the defeat of Deathstorm in season 8, which would have caused emotional vibrations that culminated with Nekron, the great villain of the story. Several characters from Superman & Lois, Titans, and Stargirl would have appeared as allies of Team Flash or part of Nekron’s undead Black Lantern army.
Other Plans for Team Flash’s corner of the Arrowverse
Eric Wallace also shared a few other things that could have been if the final seasons hadn’t been truncated. One of which was a return of Julian Albert in season 3 and Patty Spivot in season 2 as a crime-fighting couple named Hot Pursuit. Also, a full ninth season would have involved a storyline around Chester P. Runk and a villain teased in season 8. Chester and Allegra would have had their own arc, which sadly cannot be resolved anymore because the whole storyline had to be cut.
What could have been?
Wallace had enough ideas to keep The Flash and the Arrowverse going for a few more years. Whether the show would have been able to match those ambitions is another matter entirely, but given how the entire enterprise managed to run for over a decade on being more charming than ever, there would have been some fun in watching the CW adapt something that would probably work better as a movie than a TV miniseries.
