NVIDIA’s AD107-400 GPU: Smallest Ada Lovelace GPU

NVIDIA has recently unveiled the smallest Ada Lovelace GPU, the AD107-400, which will power the company’s most powerful entry-level and mainstream graphics cards, including the GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 series. The AD107-400 GPU is designed on the TSMC 4N process node and measures 146mm2, which makes it 27% smaller than the GA107 and TU117 GPUs.

  • AD107 “Ada” GPU Die Size = 146mm2 (TBD Billion Transistors @5nm)
  • GA107 “Ampere” GPU Die Size = 200mm2 (8.7 Billion Transistors @8nm)
  • TU117 “Turing” GPU Die Size = 200mm2 (4.7 Billion Transistors @12nm)

The chip is based on a mobile RTX 4060 and 4050 GPUs and will soon be used on NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 GPU models, which are slated for a July release.

AD107-400 GPU Design and Specifications

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card will contain the AD107-400-A1, the fully enabled AD107 Ada die that powers up to 3072 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 128-bit bus interface running at memory speeds of 17 Gbps. It will also feature L2 cache of up to 24 MB, providing the card with a 272 GB/s bandwidth, effectively rated at 453 GB/s, which is 26% higher than the RTX 3060.

GeForce RTX 4060 and TGP

The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is expected to have a 35% lower TGP than its predecessor, the RTX 3060. It is fitted with a TGP of 115W, with actual gaming power consumption estimated at around 110W. Idle power is rated at 7W, while video playback is rated at 11W. The card will not receive a Founders Edition (FE) release but will have various custom models available at launch.

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card is also slated for a July release.
